Stop Asking “Which AI Is Best.” Ask This Instead.

The one question that actually predicts whether your AI subscription is worth the money — broken down by what you actually do all day.
There’s a thread I keep seeing versions of, across every corner of the internet where professionals hang out: someone writes a long, detailed comparison of ChatGPT vs. Claude, and the replies immediately split by profession. A lawyer swears by one. A consultant swears by the other. An HR lead running three roles out of one brain wants something neither of them quite offers.

After the lead, the article argues that “which AI is best” comparisons miss the point because the real question is fit—how a tool’s typical behavior matches the risks and failure modes of a specific job. It then recommends starting tools by role (law/compliance: Claude; consulting: ChatGPT with explicit challenge instructions; freelancers/design/agency: Claude for artifacts plus careful style control; solo small business: ChatGPT paired with Perplexity for sourced market questions; marketing/content: ChatGPT for speed/variants, Claude for long-form; HR/multi-hat work: separate assistants to prevent memory bleed; coding/product builders: Claude for agentic coding, using both Claude and ChatGPT as a check). Throughout, it provides “try this” prompts and “the mistake” cautions—like not treating results as verified citations, not using yes-men behavior as strategy, protecting client work via clear licensing terms, and sandboxing agents with least privilege. It closes with a 60-second self-test (cost of being wrong, whether you produce volume or protect one high-stakes thing, and what breaks specifically for your work), plus a summary pattern: choose tools by the shape of risk, not by benchmarks, because that determines whether the subscription actually pays off.
